Our founder, Author Chiro Martin, and his books. |
He is recently working on his fourth book, which targets the early readers whom he believes have a greater potential to transform Africa. His fourth book is titled ‘I Love Africa’ and specifically aimed at making African children proud of their land, love their people, and be responsible to their community. This book will be published in mid-February. The three published books are available in several international bookstores including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Ko-Fi, and many others.
Apart from books, Mr Chiro has also written essays and articles in several publications. His writings mainly focus on the decolonization of Africa and Africans. He has written on anti-imperialism advocating for African sovereignty, and a halt to neo-colonialism. Peace in Africa is also one of his key subjects where he has constantly advocated for peaceful resolution of conflicts in warzones in Africa such as DRC and Sudan. He has also called out the biased representation in global media where much worse conflicts in Africa are ignored thus blocking international conventions but fronting wars from other continents to the African people. Another theme of his discussions and writings is that of black pride and excellence. In doing this, he has gone a step further to engage in motivational talks to several schools in Kenya where he urges African children to be proud of their identities and be undistracted in pursuing their dreams.
Among his other programs to solidify this, he is working on establishing community libraries in his country that will focus on African literature. Linking those community libraries is a network of book clubs in several schools that are also focused on Africanism. It was his urge to see Africa transformed for the better that saw him found The African Shujaa Magazine which publishes monthly. Through his able leadership as the CEO, the magazine has grown to encompass writers across Africa and the Diaspora. The themes of the magazine revolve around Pan-Africanism and its readers range from activists, thought leaders, and students.
He has also worked collaboratively with other Pan-Africanists with highlighted achievements such as serving as the Secretary General of the Young Pan-African Association, writing for an international media outlet in the UK named Black News UK, and engaging in several virtual seminars. Mr Chiro has also featured as a panellist in a Pan-African conference hosted by The University of Ibadan in Nigeria. He has appeared in publications of other authors in several capacities among them being the chief editor, forwarder, and reviewer. Apart from writing for activism, art is his hobby and profession.
